SHAH ALAM: Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam Malaysia (Peka) has embarked on a new initiative by incorporating fashion and lifestyle to raise awareness on the importance of saving the rainforests in the country.
Dubbed as "I Vogue For Green" campaign, Peka expects some 1,000 participants to take part in the "forest fashion walk" through the campaign which is done in collaboration with C8 Media, a creative video and movie company in Kuala Lumpur.
The campaign organiser, Julez Wong, said the crowd-funding campaign which kicks off today until third week of July aims to bring more awareness to the public on keeping the green world by bringing fashion into the selected beautiful forests in Malaysia.
"We have identified some forests including The Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) to conduct the forest fashion walk where some fashion industry key players will take the lead.
"Besides this, we have other exciting eco-friendly activities such as forest photography, the making of fashion jungle story book, tree planting and the most important aspect of this initiative is the making of a short movie by Peka entitled 'Blood Timber' to raise awareness on the importance of saving the rainforests in the country," she told Bernama after attending the launching of "I Vogue For Green" campaign by Peka president, Puan Sri Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil here today.
Wong said through the campaign, the public from all walks of life can show support and love towards the mother nature by contributing RM10 to Peka Malaysia.
She also said the "forest fashion walk" is set to create history by being recognised in the Malaysia Book of Records as the first of its kind walk in Malaysia. — Bernama
