Hadi's open letter to Malaysians

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has urged the rakyat to give PAS a chance in the 14th General Election (GE14), claiming it can offer what the other parties cannot – corrupt-free leaders.
In an open letter to GE14 voters, the PAS president noted that close to 100 political leaders have been investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for corruption over the past five years, but none of them were from the Islamist party.
"Alhamdulillah (thank god), PAS kosong (zero), not a single one was investigated despite the party having ruled over Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah through limited funds from the federal government.
"PAS has also joined state governments led by DAP in Penang and PKR in Selangor, as well as reigning over Perak. This just proves how clean PAS leaders are," he said.
Abdul Hadi stressed that Malaysia is not a country without income revenue, but that many of the problems lie in the leakages in the government, with the rakyat bearing the brunt.
He also explained why PAS would never join forces with Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the forthcoming elections, having formed Gagasan Sejahtera in 2016.
"BN is ruling the country with lots of problems, as well as giving hindrance to PAS' policies and objectives. We can't be with an accused government, until they are proven to be guilty or otherwise.
"PAS can't join PH either because it will clash with their concept and policies. In it, there are parties and leaders who continue to oppose Islam openly, covertly or opportunistically," he added.
"(Hence) I urge and plead to all Malaysia regardless of religion, race, and ethnicity, to give PAS a chance to be in power with a fair Islamic solution for all.
"PAS will come up with candidates with various backgrounds who are of calibre and free of corruption to lead the states and the country," he said.
