IPOH: The list of DAP candidates for parliamentary and state seats is expected to be finalised at the party's national selection committee meeting later today.
Perak DAP adviser Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham (pix) said the list was submitted to the leadership one week ago.
"The party is announcing its candidates in stages in different states," he told a press conference today.
Three new faces will be nominated after three assemblymen, Chen Fook Chye (Keranji), Teh Hock Ke (Jelapang) and Lim Pek Har (Menglembu) declined to contest.
Ngeh also said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Teluk Intan parliament constituency would be announced at a gathering in Teluk Intan on Monday.
The state seats of Pasir Bedamar and Changkat Jong were held by DAP's Terence Naidu and Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin from Barisan Nasional respectively.
Several senior PH leaders including its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad are expected to be present.
It is widely speculated that Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming will move from his Taiping parliament seat to take on Gerakan's Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong who won the seat in a by-election in 2014.
On another subject, Ngeh took to task the state government which had degazetted a total of 3,847ha of forest reserve recently.
"Such action will have a negative impact on the environment with pollution and loss of biodiversity in the jungles.
"Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir will have to explain why these areas were removed as forest reserves and what is the status of the land now," he added.
