GEORGE TOWN: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has pledged to abolish the first Penang Bridge toll charges if they succeed in capturing Putrajaya in the 14th general election.
In a Facebook post, caretaker Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said PH will abolish all toll charges, not just for motorcyclists, as announced by Barisan Nasional (BN).
"Vote for us (PH) and toll for the first bridge will not be imposed once we take over Putrajaya," he posted.
Lim's response came after caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had pledged to abolish motorcycle toll charges if Barisan Nasional regains the state.
The premier made the announcement during a working visit to the Balik Pulau parliamentary constituency yesterday.
Najib reportedly said motorcyclists need not pay the toll after discussing the coalition's initiatives for the state with BN leaders here.
