KUALA LUMPUR: It was a moment to cherish for Muna Najib Rafee who won a lucky draw return air ticket for one person from Kuala Lumpur to London courtesy of Malaysia Airlines, exactly a year after winning a return ticket to Japan.
The 43-year-old online entrepreneur was the grand prize winner for the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair March 2018 Buyers' Contest held at the Istana Hotel, here, today.
Speaking to the press later, Muna said she had attended the Matta Fair last month to purchase travelling passes for her trip to Osaka, Japan with her sister, tickets of which she won in a draw last year.
She spent over RM600 for two travel passes, subsequently entitling her for the Buyers' Contest.
Any buyers who spent more than RM300 at the Matta Fair will be entitled for the international destination prizes, while those who spend more than RM100 will qualify for the domestic prizes.
"But I have been expecting to win this (prize). I have put this in my visual board, thinking about it every day, and now it seems to have worked!" Muna said.
Muna was among 40 lucky winners to walk away with prizes ranging from international and domestic flight tickets, and travel and hotel vouchers.
The 40 winners were selected at random prior to the draw today from a pool of 4,556 qualified Matta Fair visitors.
Matta president Datuk Tan Kok Liang, in his speech, said the 4,556 contestants who were entitled for the Matta Fair Buyers' Contest, had a total of 158,751 international and 26,047 domestic entries, with an expenditure of RM53.6 million.
"Based on the summary report of the Buyers' Contest, the leading domestic destinations are Negri Sembilan, followed by Selangor, Johor, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur, while Japan, China, South Korea, United Kingdom and Turkey topped the international destinations list," he said.
Tan also revealed that the March fair had attracted a total of about 110,000 visitors with an estimated total sales value of RM210 million, compared to 104,000 visitors and RM205 million in sales at the previous fair in September 2017.
Matta Fair will return to the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur from Sept 7 to 9, 2018.
