GEORGE TOWN: The DAP's decision to use the PKR logo along with other Pakatan Harapan parties was well received by its hardcore supporters at a ceramah on Friday night.
During the party's ceramah at the Penang Chinese Town Hall, DAP leaders gave a detailed explanation on the choice of logo for the 14th general election (GE14).
Printed papers on the common logo were also distributed to the crowd to ensure voters would be able to easily identify the logo when casting their votes.
Following the announcement by DAP to use the common logo, there were doubts whether the voters could identify the PKR symbol as the common logo of the Opposition pact.
The crowd were also shown examples of ballot papers with the common logo, while many of them even marked "X" next to the PKR symbol on the ballot papers provided to them.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng called on the party's hardcore supporters to continue to support the pact, adding that the changes to Penang in the last ten years under the current state government was obvious for all to see.
Earlier in his speech, state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said he hoped the party's supporters would support the unprecedented move to "rest" the iconic rocket logo for GE14.
Chow explained that the decision was made in the greater interest of uniting Malaysians in the push for change.
" Don't panic when you see black and white coloured ballot paper during polling day. Identify through the "eye" logo, Chow told the crowd.
"Let us march to Putrajaya together," he told the crowd to thunderous applause.
