Perak PKR to contest five parliamentary, 14 state seats

IPOH: Perak PKR today confirmed that will contest five parliamentary and 14 state seats in the state in the 14th general election on May 9.
Its chairman, Dr Muhammad Nur Manuty, said the parliamentary seats were Padang Rengas, Sungai Siput, Gopeng, Bagan Datuk and Tanjung Malim while the state seats were Kenering, Batu Kurau, Kuala Kurau, Kuala Sepetang, Alor Pongsu, Chenderoh, Lintang, Hulu Kinta, Bukit Chandan, Tualang Sekah, Simpang Pulai, Teja, Sungai Manik and Hutan Melintang.
He spoke at a press conference after launching the Perak PKR election machinery and handing over of logistics material at the state PKR office in Medan Istana here.
He said Perak PKR would field young, new and women candidates in the election, for which nomination is on April 28 and early voting on May 5.
In the last general election, in 2013, PKR contested 10 parliamentary seats in Perak and won Sungai Siput, Lumut and Gopeng. It contested 19 states seats and won five, namely Kuala Kurau, Kuala Sepetang, Simpang Pulai, Teja and Hutan Melintang.
