Cops nab man caught removing BN flags in Brickfields (Video)

    KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man for removing Barisan Nasional (BN) flags in Brickfields here on April 12.
    The man's act was also caught on a video that was shared online.
    Brickfields district police chief ACP Ruslan Khalid said the 48-year-old local was arrested at a car wash premises in Brickfields at 6.30pm.
    "The incident took place at a junction near Jalan Tun Sambanthan 4 in Brickfields.
    "The man was under the influence of alcohol. The investigation so far showed that he was not hired by any party to vandalise the flags. However, we have initiated an investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief," he said today.
    Ruslan said that police are looking into the matter seriously and stressed the public to avoid taking matters into their own hand.
    "Whoever commits mischief and causes damage to public property shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with a fine or with both," he added.
    A video of the incident went viral on social media.
    The 15-second video is believed to have been recorded by a motorist along Jalan Tun Sambanthan 4.
    In it, a man is shown removing BN flags by the roadside.
