Penang PAS supporters congress chairman declines to contest in GE14

KEPALA BATAS: Penang PAS supporters congress (DHPP) chairman P. Asokan has revealed that he has rejected the offer to contest as a candidate in the 14th general election.

Asokan said the reason he has rejected the offer was that because he wants to focus his attention on his daughter who had excelled in the recent SPM examinations.

"I was offered by the party leadership to stand as a candidate but I rejected.

"My daughter scored 9As in her SPM recently, and her good result requires me to focus more on her education and well-being," he said his speech at Pongsu Seribu near here tonight.

Penang PAS secretary Iszuree Ibrahim confirmed to theSun that the DHPP leader's name was among the list of candidates from the Gagasan Sejahtera pact that will contest in GE14.

"Yes his name was on the list, however, we respect his decision," he said.

Beside DHPP, Gagasan Sejahtera also includes Parti Ikatan, Berjasa and PAP while Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) is a strategic partner in the pact.
