LANGKAWI: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), who will stand on the PKR logo in the coming general election is ready for the multi-cornered fight which would likely ensue in most of the 36 state seats in Kedah.
PPBM deputy president and its Kedah chairperson Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said that the machinery has been geared to expect multi-cornered fight in the majority of the 14 state and five parliament seats it plans to contest in Kedah.
Mukhriz said that there are indications that there is a possible collusion between PAS and Barisan Nasional in Kedah over the choice of seats that the duo would be contesting in the "Rice Bowl" state of the country.
"But we are ready. We feel the Malay votes would not be going to PAS. I think they may not be a factor in Kedah. But we will work our best as we are the underdogs," Mukhriz said after the party unveiled its candidates for the coming general election here.
He would be contesting the Jitra state seat while defending his parliament seat in Jerlun while a possible mentri besar material Datuk Ir Amiruddin Hamzah would be slotted in Anak Bukit state and Kubang Pasu parliament.
Earlier, his father Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed in his maiden ceramah here where his candidacy for Langkawi was announced, urged voters to support those they know will deliver instead of unfamiliar names.
He told them to be wary of those who would betray their trust.
