KUALA LUMPUR: The fourth upward revision of Malaysia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by the World Bank is a clear sign that the Barisan Nasional government is managing the economy well, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, said today.
"The World Bank has raised its forecast for Malaysia's 2018 economic growth to 5.4%, the fourth upward revision in a row! No other country over the last 16 months has this distinction, a clear sign that the @barisanasional Government is managing our economy well! #HebatkanNegaraku," he said via twitter.
The World Bank had earlier projected a growth of 5.2% for 2018.
In its World Bank East Asia and Pacific Economic Update April 2018 edition, it said, Malaysia's growth was expected to remain strong in the near term, albeit at a more moderate pace compared to 2017.
"In aggregate, Malaysia's economic growth rate will be supported by the continued strength of private consumption," it said. — Bernama
