PETALING JAYA: The opposition coalition has a contingency plan if the use of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) logo by the candidates of DAP, Amanah and the temporarily suspended Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) is rejected by the Election Commission (EC).
He said the coalition has outlined a strategy in the event of a potential obstacle or problem during the nomination process in the 14th General Election (GE14).
"We have some ideas as to what to do but of course we can't tell you. If we tell you, Najib (Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak) will know ... So this is our secret weapon," he said in a press conference here, today.
The EC set May 9 as polling day, with nomination date set on April 28, while early voting is on May 5.
Dr Mahathir said they learned from the experience from the temporary suspension of the PPBM under his leadership on April 5 last year.
The Registrar of Societies (RoS) issued a temporary suspension order on PPBM, giving it a 30-day period to furnish the required particulars or face dissolution.
RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim said PPBM was prohibited from the name of the party and symbol and carry out party-related activities within the 30-day of temporary dissolution. — Bernama
