KUALA LUMPUR: The Global Movement of Moderates Foundation (GMMF) is organising a short video competition in the production of alternative and counter-narratives to violent-extremism.
The competition, running from April 16 to June 3 offers cash money prizes for the top 20 winners with the first, second and third prize winners walking away with RM5,000, RM3,500 and RM2,500, respectively.
The remaining consolation prize winners can expect cash prizes of RM300 or RM500, depending on the production creativity.
In a statement today, GMMF said the competition was aimed at encouraging active participation among the youths in preventing and countering violent-extremism.
"The short video competition themed, 'Moderation as a Comprehensive Approach towards Preventing Violent Extremism', is in line with our aspiration to create awareness concerning the values of moderation and build resilience among the younger generation from falling prey to online radicalisation or in becoming terrorist sympathisers.
"The selected winning videos will be disseminated through websites, social media and common messaging platforms that appeal to the young demographics," it said.
Apart from that, a content creator's workshop is scheduled to be convened in early May to facilitate young participants in terms of video content and production skills.
