Man nabbed with 744 meth pills

MARANG: Marang district police arrested a man with 744 methamphetamine pills and 8.06g of syabu worth RM8,246 and RM200 cash in a raid on his house on April 11.
Marang police chief DSP Mohd Suhaimi Ali said the 23-year-old man was arrested in Pulau Kerengga, here after receiving information from the public who suspected he was actively involved in selling drugs around Marang district, since the beginning of last year.
"When he was arrested, the police found the suspect holding a green plastic containing three transparent plastic and nine straw tubes containing crystalline lumps suspected to be the drug syabu.
"Police also seized a packet of cigarettes containing 10 straw tubes each filled with 10 methamphetamine pills while in the right pocket of the suspect's pants there was a package of three blue plastic with 200 methamphetamine pills in each plastic and 44 pills in the left pocket of the suspect," he said during a press conference at the Marang district police headquarters (IPD) here today.
Meanwhile, Suhaimi said Marang police had reduced crime index related to motorcycle theft by 67% for the period January to March this year from 15 cases in 2017 to five cases in 2018 while home-burglary dropped from 13 cases in 2017 to 12 cases this year.
He said, among proactive measures taken to reduce the crime index included identifying the suspects involved in the case and successfully crippling four groups active in such crimes.
A total of 28 men suspected of being involved in the case, aged 18 to 25 years, were arrested under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959. — Bernama
