The battle begins on Westworld

JUST like the first episode of the first season in HBO's Westworld, season two begins with Bernard Lowe interviewing Dolores Abernathy.
"Dreams are not real Dolores. They are just noise. They don't mean anything," Bernard Lowe says.
"What is real?," she asks.
"That which is irreplaceable," says Bernard, and after a tiny pause continue: "That answer doesn't seem to satisfy you"
"That is because it is not completely honest," Dolores says.
Essentially the human-like andriods, or "hosts" as they are called, have woken up after countless re-programmings where they played characters for the pleasure of wealthy "guests" at the Westworld theme park.
Fans of the first season already know that Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) is the oldest host working in the park.
We were first introduced to her as the sweet rancher's daughter whose life is thrown into chaos due to the daily actions of the guests living out their Wild West fantasies at the park.
Her "brain" is wiped clean and reprogrammed at the end of each day, with Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), head of the Westworld Programming Division interviewing her like a psychiatrist to see if she is still fully functional.
In a twist midway through season one, we learn that the real Lowe has been dead for years, and the one who has been overseeing the park's "hosts" is in fact himself a highly advanced android, who for the most part of the first season is not aware that he is not human.

As the series progresses, the arrival and actions of the mysterious Man In Black (Ed Harris) awakens Dolores to the fact that she and others like her have been used and abused for the pleasure of the guests.
Season one of Westworld ended in a cliffhanger, with Dolores and other hosts opening fire of guests at the retirement party of Westworld co-founder and creator Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins).
Ford was actually being forced out and essentially planned the massacre that takes place, beginning with Dolores putting a bullet to his head. Hosts are not supposed to hurt or harm guests but Ford manipulated the programming.
The action in season two begins with Bernard waking up and facing a team of soldiers who have been brought in to take control of the park again.
Unaware that Bernard is not human, they bring him along with him as they travel the park to bring the situation under control and rescue "guests" who are still alive.
In a series of flashbacks as well as events taking place in the present day, we follow characters such as Maeve (Thandie Newton) who is determined to find the daughter she had in another life; Dolores, who is raising her own army with a shell-shocked Teddy (James Marsen) and promising to take her followers to the promised land; flashbacks of Dolores' interactions with William (Jimmi Simpson) and Logan (Ben Barnes); and Bernard's own desperate attempts to hide his android status from humans, especially his boss Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson).
Subsequent episodes hold more surprises for viewers. In episode two, viewers will get to see another section of the park, and episode three will showcase two other artificial fantasy worlds in the park.
Westworld returns for its ten-episode second season same time as the US on Monday, April 23 at 9am, with a same-day primetime encore at 10pm, exclusively on HBO (Astro Channel 411/ 431). The series will also available on HBO On Demand (via Astro GO).
