Former Johor Exco member Sabariah Ahmad dies

JOHOR BARU: A former Johor state executive councillor, Datuk Sabariah Ahmad, died early today of stroke and related complications, according to a family member. She was 79.
Sabariah died at about 12.30am at her house in Muar, said her grandniece Haziqah Nasirah Zolbahar.
She said Sabariah would be buried at the Kampung Parit Kadi Muslim Cemetery in Muar after the Friday prayers today.
Sabariah leaves behind three children and six grandchildren.
She had been the state assemblyman for Kesang and Jorak and chairman of the Johor Agriculture and Rural Development Committee for two terms prior to her retirement in 1999.
Sabariah was also an aunt of the current Johor Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Asiah Md Ariff. — Bernama
