Kedah PAS announces its candidates for GE14

ALOR STAR: Kedah PAS has announced its candidates for the state and parliamentary constituencies in the state for the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).
In announcing the candidates PAS state commissioner Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Syeikh Fakhrurazi said the party will contest in 14 parliamentary constituency except Langkawi and all 36 Kedah state seats.
Langkawi parliamentary constituency will be contested by a candidate from Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) one of the key component in Gagasan Sejahtera pact led by the Islamist party.
Among the candidates that were announced by Ahmad Fakhruddin includes businessmen, academicians, teachers, technocrats, engineers and also professionals.
Leading the candidates list for the party was 28-year-old Muhammad Aminur Shafiq Mohammad Abduh who will contest in Alor Star.
Muhammad Aminur candidacy will be among youngest ever candidate to be put forward by the state in the history of election in Kedah.
The former assistant researcher with University Utara will likely face a three corner fight from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates.
Kedah PAS this time will also field four women candidate in state and one for parliamentary constituency in the state.
State woman chief Datuk Siti Aisyah Ghazali will defend her Merbau Pulas seat.
The 56-year-old won the last general election defeating BN Marlia Abdul Latif with majority of 633 votes.
She was also a former state exco in 2008 under PAS state government.
Other woman candidate announced by the party were Langkawi PAS woman committee Azlina Azinan, Habshah Bakar, Noor Hidayah Foo Abdullah for Ayer Hangat, Bukit Kayu Hitam and Sidam state seats respectively.
42-year-old Nurhafiza Fadzil has been picked up to contest in Kubang Pasu parliamentary seats.
Other candidates that were announced for state seats were Mazlan Ahmad (Kuah), Mat Rejab Md Akhir (Kota Siputeh), Azhar Ibrahim (Ayer Hitam),
Zulhazmi Osman (Jitra), Munir Zakaria (Kuala Nerang), Mohd Radzi Md Amin (Pedu), Salim Mahmood(Bukit Lada), Wan Romaini Wan Salim (Bukit Pinang), Yahya Saad (Derga), Mohd Sabri Omar (Suka Menanti), Zulkifli Haron (Kota Darul Aman), Ahmad Yahya (Alor Mengkudu), Hamdi Ishak (Anak Bukit), Omar Saad (Kubang Rotan), and medical doctor Dr Mohd Hayati Othman for Tokai.
Sungai Tiang state seat will be contested by Syaiful Syazwan Shafie, Mohd Azam Abd Samat (Sungai Limau), Musoddak Ahmad (Guar Chempedak), Muzaini Azizan (Gurun), and Md Isa Shafie (Belantek).
Kedah PAS deputy commissioner Muhamad Sanusi Md Noor will contest in Jeneri, Dr Mohd Ali Sulaiman in Bukit Selambau, Hanif Ghazali in Tanjung Dawai, Ahmad Fadzli Hashim (Pantai Merdeka), Othman Che Mee (Bakar Arang), and Abdul Nasir Idris.
Former army general Datuk Najmi Ahmad and retired army officer Major (R) Mansor Zakaria will contest in Kupang and Kuala Ketil state seats respectively.
Lawyer Ahmad Taufiq Baharum, Mohd Khairy Mohd Salleh and Rohaizad Jaafar will be vying Lunas, Kulim, and Bandar Baru state seats.
The candidates for parliamentary constituency will be Abdul Ghani Ahmad (Jerlun), Mohammad Azam Abdul Aziz (Padang Terap), Awang Hashim (Pendang), Mohammad Ismail(Jerai), Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman (Sik), Ahmad Fauzi Ramli, Shahril Long (Sungai Petani), Hassan Saad (Baling), Muhammad Sobri Osman (Padang Serai) and Hasan Abdul Razak (Kulim-Bandar Baru).
Last Saturday PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang announced former midfield maestro Radhi Mat Din as the candidate of the party for Pokok Sena parliamentary seat while 43-year-old pharmacist Riduan Othman as candidate for Kuala Kedah parliamentary constituency.
Abdul Hadi also announced Ahmad Fakhruddin as the candidate for Pengkalan Kundor seat.
In GE13, Kedah PAS under the then Pakatan Rakyat contested 24 state and eight parliamentary seats and won nine and one respectively.
However it's state seats reduce to only seven after its representatives in Pengkalan Kundor and Anak Bukit defected to Amanah and PPBM respectively.
In the press conference later Ahmad Fakhruddin said the candidacy for the Langkawi parliamentary constituency will be announced by the Gagasan Sejahtera leadership soon.
More than 3000 PAS loyalist and supporters were present during the announcement that was also streamed live on the internet .
The announcement was made simultaneously with announcement all over the country.
