Lawyer claims trial to CBT of more than RM100,000

GEORGE TOWN: A lawyer pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to criminal breach of trust involving more than RM100,000.
Dawn Shireen Lee Chao Chern, 45, from legal firm Clement, Dawn & Associates, had allegedly misappropriated RM129,069.90 entrusted to her by a client in regard to the purchase of a house at the firm in Greenhall here on Nov 22, last year.
The offence is punishable under Section 409 of the Penal Code with a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping as well as a fine upon conviction.
Judge Irwan Suainbon allowed Lee bail of RM10,000 in one surety and set May 21 for mention of the case.
DPP Noor Azura Zulkiflee prosecuted while Lee was represented by counsel V. Parthipan. — Bernama
