KUALA LUMPUR: Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today slammed opposition DAP members for calling DAP loyalist and veteran leader Dr Tan Seng Giaw a traitor and 'running dog'.
In his latest post on Twitter, Najib quoted an article in a local newspaper and said it was "very sad to see a veteran, principled politician being hounded just because he stands by the truth".
"If this is how DAP treats one of their own, one wonders how they are going to treat their 'temporary' friends if ever they come to power?" he asked.
In an article entitled 'DAP loyalist branded 'running dog' for speaking truth' published Thursday, Dr Tan had questioned the rationale and motive behind the action of DAP members to label him a 'running dog' and traitor to the party.
It had been reported that Tan had allegedly fallen out of favour with the DAP leadership because in 2016, as deputy chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, he had said that there was nothing in the PAC report into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue to implicate Najib.
Tan had also criticised the DAP-led Penang government on environmental management. — Bernama
