ARAU: DAP's naming of potential ministers from the party if the opposition Pakatan Harapan wins the 14th general election reflects the dominant stance of the party, according to PAS.
PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin (pix) said PAS had learned much about the DAP attitude in its relationship with the party when it was a component of the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat pact.
PAS had often been sidelined when important decisions were made in Pakatan Rakyat, he said, adding that PAS was not informed at all about the so-called 'Kajang Move' to topple the then Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and replace him with then opposition leader and de facto PKR chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
DAP had also raised objections to matters related to Islamic affairs, and it was DAP which decided to break up its relationship with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, he said to reporters after the announcement last night of the Gagasan Sejahtera pact candidates for Perlis in the 14th general election on May 9.
Gagasan Sejahtera is an informal coalition of opposition political entities comprising PAS, Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan), Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa) and several NGOs.
Hashim said PAS' objective of winning 40 parliamentary seats was to become the 'king maker'. The party is contesting 126 parliamentary seats in GE14. A total of 222 parliamentary seats are up for the contest in GE14.
He said that if no party was prepared to work with PAS, it would remain an opposition party.
Meanwhile, Perlis PAS commissioner Shukri Ramli said the party's candidate for the Arau parliamentary seat would be announced soon.
PAS is contesting all the three parliamentary and 15 state seats in Perlis, fielding almost 40% new faces, two of them below 40.
