SUNGAI SIPUT: Trouble is brewing in Sungai Siput's PKR division over outsiders being parachuted to stand as candidates in the 14th general election.
Aminuddin Mohd Shukri, who represented the group, said local candidate Syed Ahmad Putra Syed Isa is capable of bringing changes for constituents in the area.
"The Kampung Muhibbah branch chairman is now serving as an aide to incumbent Sri Andalas state assemblyman Dr Xavier Jayakumar," he told reporters here today.
According to him, a senior division leader who lost the confidence of the majority of the committee had attempted to bring in several members from outside the division and introduced them as candidates.
"He keeps changing and introducing different people as candidates ... the leader abuses his position to get funds.
"He also makes decisions without consulting the committee to the point 15 of the 20 members decided not to support him.
"The leader may also offer himself as the candidate ... outsiders are not welcomed as they cannot assess the local issues.
"The matter had been brought to the attention of the party leadership," he added.
The group also planned to lodge reports with police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on lack of transparency in the financial management of the division.
The Sungai Siput parliamentary constituency is currently held by Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj of PSM.
The constituency is expected to see multi-cornered fights from Barisan Nasional, PKR and PAS.
