KUALA LUMPUR: The Embassy of Palestine here has identified Dr Fadi Al Batsh as the Palestinian university lecturer who was shot dead early today in Setapak.
Ambassador Datuk Dr Anwar H. Al Agha said Dr Fadi had stayed with his wife and three children, aged one, five and six, at the condominium near where he was shot.
"I was shocked at the news because Dr Fadi was a good man who had no enemies. He was a quiet person and was good to everyone. I am surprised that this has happened," he said to reporters in Malay when approached at the scene of the incident at Jalan Meranti.
The envoy said he left it to the authorities to investigate the case.
It is learned that Dr Fadi, who was 35, did his doctorate in engineering at Universiti Malaya before taking up the post of lecturer at a private university.
The police said he was shot dead at about 6am by two men on a high-powered motorcycle who had waited for about 20 minutes for him outside the condominium. At the time he was on the way to a nearby surau for the dawn prayers. — Bernama
