Rosmah advises politicians to campaign with political maturity

KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Prime Minister, today advised politicians to engage in the 14th general election campaign with political maturity.
She said a handful of politicians spoke only half-truths with the intention of inciting the people to hate the national leadership.
"If you want power, you have to work for it and not engage in histrionic pretence and tell all kinds of stories," she said when speaking at the 'Salam Sayang Perdana' programme of the Wanita Barisan Nasional at the Lembah Pantai community centre here.
Also present were Wanita BN chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Lembah Pantai BN chairman Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and Wanita BN assistant secretary Datuk Noraini Ahmad.
Rosmah reminded politicians not to engage in character assassination for the sake of politics.
"All of us have feelings, we have self-respect. It is unnecessary to say all sorts of things. As Muslims, we should not tarnish the dignity of one another. If you want to engage in politics, do so, but in a matured manner," she said.
On the 'Salam Sayang Perdana' programme, Rosmah said it covered welfare, voluntary and social work to meet the needs of the people at the level of the grassroots.
"Such an outreach programme is implemented to endear ourselves to the people in all parliamentary constituencies nationwide and find out their problems.
"We all know that the opposition has twisted various issues to undermine the BN in the general election. This programme is the best opportunity for the BN machinery to meet the electors face-to-face and provide explanations," she said.
Nomination for the 14th general election is on April 28 and polling on May 9. Early voting is on May 5. — Bernama
