AAIB team off to Kathmandu due to Malindo Air incident

BENTONG: An Air Accidents Investigation Bureau team has left for Kathmandu to carry out investigations relating to a Boeing 737 belonging to Malindo Air, which overran the runway during take off at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal's capital on Thursday night.
Caretaker Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the preliminary report will be provided by the bureau in about a month.
"Any air accident, we will get a detailed report so that it does not happen again. The probe is being done in cooperation with the Nepalese government. The full report will be submitted once the investigation is completed," he told reporters after attending a community event at Felda Kemasul, here today.
All the 132 passengers and crew aboard the Flight OD181 were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.
At the event, Liow also opened a motorcross circuit to encourage youths in the Felda settlement to take up motoring sports.
On the 14th General Election (GE14), Liow, who is also MCA president, said all parties should adopt a give-and-take attitude on the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat and see the "bigger picture".
"It is important that we (Barisan Nasional) field a candidate who can win. It involves a seat swap and will leave it to the BN chairman (Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak) to decide.
It was reported that BN component parties Umno and MCA are both clamouring for the seat. — Bernama
