MACC nabs two women over issuance of false qualification certificate

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained two women for their alleged involvement in a syndicate issuing the false qualification certificates of several private higher education institutions (IPTS) in the country.
A source close to MACC said one of the suspects was a company director, while the other was a foreigner, both 27 years old.
They were arrested at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday.
"Initial investigations revealed that both women played an important role in the printing and supplying of the false certificates after getting orders from buyers.
"The MACC investigating team is in the process of identifying other suspects to assist the probe," the source said.
Meanwhile, MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed the arrest and that the investigating team also seized several of the false certificate, which had been torn, from the suspects.
Prior to this, the commission detained four individuals suspected of being involved in the same syndicate. — Bernama
