KOTA KINABALU: The Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)s secretary-general Datuk Johnny Mositun today lodged a police report over an allegation that he had announced the party had left Barisan Nasional (BN).
Mositun, who was accompanied by his lawyer and several PBS leaders, lodged the report at the Kota Kinabalu district police headquarters in Karamusing.
He said the report was lodged following a claim, which was viral-ed through the Whatsapp application which he himself received last night, on him having announced that PBS had quit BN.
Mositun said he received the message at about 9.30pm and immediate called the number of the sender, but the call went unanswered.
"I am upset with the statement and deny making the announcement. It has been spread on the social media and could affect my family, my position as PBS secretary-general, and BN, as well as my position in the (caretaker) state government. What has been spread is totally untrue," he said in the police report.
Speaking to reporters later, Mositun said he viewed the allegation as very serious and urged the police to take stern action under the Anti-Fake News Act 2018.
He believed that the individuals who spread the allegation had malicious intent and created the issue to jeopardise the credibility of PBS and BN. — Bernama
