KUALA LUMPUR: The body of Dr Fadi Mohammed Al Batsh, a Palestinian lecturer and imam who was shot dead while walking to a surau in Setapak on Saturday, is expected to be transported back to his home country tomorrow.
The victim's younger brother, Dr Rami Al Batsh, 31, said his brother's body would be taken back to Gaza after the relevant documentation processes were completed.
"We are expecting Fadi's body to be taken home tomorrow. We are here to complete several documentation processes to claim my brother's body," he told reporters at the Selayang Hospital's Forensic Unit here, today.
Rami said he had booked a flight ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Egypt, after which the body would be transported to Gaza, Palestine, by road.
He said he was still waiting for a response from the Egyptian Embassy over the matter, and hoped that the process to bring home the body could run smoothly.
Rami was seen arriving at Selayang Hospital at 9.30am with Fadi's wife Enas, 30, and several of Fadi's acquaintances, before leaving the place about two hours later.
In the 6 am incident yesterday, Fadi, 35, was shot to death as he was walking to a surau near a condominium in Jalan Meranti, Setapak, to perform morning prayers.
The police today released photo-fits of the suspects in the shooting, and all authorities at the country's exit points have been placed on high alert. — Bernama
