KANGAR: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) has spent more than RM230 million on members' dialysis treatment last year.
Its chairman, Tan Sri Dr Aseh Che Mat, however, did not mention the number of contributors who had enjoyed the benefits.
He said kidney patients with end-stage renal failure had been able to undergo the treatment free of charge.
"Contributors are also allowed to seek treatment at non-panel centres, but they must first obtain permission from the agency," Aseh told Bernama after visiting the Tuanku Syed Putra Dialysis Centre (PDTSP) at Jalan Bukit Lagi, here today.
Also present was PDTSP chairman Datuk Seri Syed Badaruddin Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail.
At the event, Aseh also presented RM40,000 worth of dialysis machine to PDTSP and handed over the cheques of Socso workers compensation insurance benefit to three recipients who were stricken by misfortune early this year. — Bernama
