21 charged with joining, consorting with crime syndicate

KLANG: Twenty-one men were charged in the Sessions Court here today with becoming members of an organised crime syndicate, "Geng 18", and consorting with the gang members over the past three years.
However, no plea was recorded from all the accused, aged between 22 and 50, after the charge in Mandarin and Tamil was read out before judge Darmafikri Abu Adam.
Seventeen of them were charged with becoming members of "Geng 18" in the district of Klang here between January 2015 and March this year.
They are M. Tamil Maaran, S. Tamilalagan, B. Shanmuga Sundaram, B. Anbarasan, A. Magendran, R. Vickneswaran, S. James, S. Logeswaran, S. Kulamanikan, Law Tuch Wah, V. Thiba, Tan Hock Hin, V. Thyban, S. Ragu, V. Murugan, M. Thiagarajan and A. Mohan.
Four others, P. Chandran Mohan, S. Subithran Nair, S. Satheesh and K. Biranava Birabu were charged with consorting with members of the organised crime group around Klang area between January 2015 and March this year.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurfaida Mohd Rashidee prosecuted while lawyers Gerard Lazarus, K. Nathiya and V. Ayasamy represented all the accused.
