Kayveas sacked as MyPPP president (Updated)

PETALING JAYA: The People's Progressive Party (MyPPP) today announced that its president Tan Sri M. Kayveas (pix) has been sacked from the party with immediate effect.
MyPPP secretary-general Datuk K. Mohan said the party's supreme council met in an emergency meeting on Tuesday to endorse the disciplinary committee's decision to sack Kayveas.
He said the disciplinary committee decided to remove Kayveas from all posts in the party.
"Although Kayveas had announced his resignation from the party on Facebook, the supreme council did not receive an official letter until after the meeting had been conducted.
"The decision to sack Kayveas had already been taken by then," he said, adding that Kayveas would be replaced by the party's senior vice-president Datuk Maglin D'Cruz.
As such, he said the former party president is not allowed to act or hold meetings on behalf of MyPPP.
Mohan said the disciplinary committee held a meeting after receiving a letter from Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor urging the party to take disciplinary action against Kayveas.
He said the letter dated April 24 stated that Kayveas had been in breach of BN rules and also implied that MyPPP could be asked to leave the coalition.
Mohan said Kayveas' actions had hurt the party's relationship with other component parties.
He said six senior party leaders, including Kayveas, had earlier met caretaker Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
"When we met Najib, we were informed that Cameron Highlands belongs to MIC. He also told us at the meeting that he had never given Kayveas permission to conduct any kind of campaigning in Cameron Highlands," Mohan said.
He said Kayveas had also acted unilaterally by offering the BN chairman, to give up all the five seats allocated to the party, for the Cameron Highlands seat.
Mohan added that the party machinery and money had been used for the president's personal interests in Cameron Highlands.
Last Tuesday, MyPPP supreme council decided to discuss the parliamentary seat allocation before making its decision on its future in BN.
The party wanted to see what it would be offered and how it could move forward with BN if Cameron Highlands was not given to it.
The party was offered the Segambut seat and Senator Datuk Loga Bala Mohan was nominated for the seat.
Meanwhile, Kayveas said he would only address the allegations of his sacking after the general elections.
"To all media calling me for (a) response, not that I don't want to say anything. I will do a PC (press conference) after the GE14.
"So that focus will be on the elections. That should take priority over this fly which came to sit on my hand," he wrote on Twitter.
In response, MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said Kayveas' resignation or removal from the party will not have any negative impact on BN's chances in GE14.
He said it was more of an internal party problem and the MIC could always assist the people in constituencies where MyPPP had worked or served.
Subramaniam added that the MIC had never been against MyPPP being allocated seats and that dissatisfaction over seat allocations was normal in every election.
