Takaful Malaysia shares up after reporting 23% rise in Q1 earnings

    PETALING JAYA: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd's share price rose 10 sen or 3.07% this morning, after announcing that its net profit jumped 23% to RM69.98 million in the first quarter ended March 31 from RM56.75 million a year ago.
    At 11.11am, the stock stood at RM3.36 with 45,000 shares changing hands, giving it a market capitalisation of RM2.8 billion.
    Yesterday, it told the stock exchange that the improvement in profit was mainly due to higher net Wakalah fee income arising from its robust business growth in the General Takaful business.
