Teacher arrested on suspicion of molesting standard two pupil

MIRI: The police have detained a teacher at a primary school in Batu Niah in connection with the molest of an eight-year-old schoolgirl yesterday.
Sarawak CID chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the suspect, who is in his 40s, was picked up at the compound of the Miri police station at 3.30pm.
"It is believed that the girl had been molested since she was in Standard One," he said in a statement today.
Dev said the alleged incident came to light when the victim told her 26-year-old mother that the suspect had been committing the acts on her in the classroom behind the teacher's desk which led to a police report being lodged this month. — Bernama
