Cops nab drug pushers in possession of a police uniform

KUALA LUMPUR: A police uniform of an assistant superintendant (ASP) was found in the possession of two drug pushers who were held in an anti-narcotics raid by Cheras police at Bandar Tun Razak on Tuesday.
Cheras police chief ACP Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji said today that apart from peddling drugs, the suspects are believed to be extortionists who had allegedly used the ASP uniform to impersonate the police to rob their unsuspecting victims.
He said a district anti-narcotics police team had laid an ambush at about 3.15pm at a carpark of the Vista Amani condominium where a 25-year-old man was arrested with 31g of methamphetamine and a weighing scale.
Abdul Ghani said on questioning the man, he admitted he had more drugs in a unit at the apartment building.
He led police to the place where his accomplice who is also aged 25 was arrested.
The police team seized 40 eramin 5 pills and about 64g of methamphetamine.
Abdul Ghani said the team also found the keys of a Mercedes Benz and were subsequently led to the car that was parked at the condominium where the police uniform and more methamphetamines were found.
He said apart from the uniform, also found in the car was a pair of shoes and a vest that are commonly worn by police officers.
Abdul Ghani said the street value of the seized drugs was estimated at RM13,000.
He said the suspects who work as a businessman and a chauffeur had revealed that they obtained their drug supply for over five months from another dealer who went by the name "Farid".
