DAP to field an Orang Asli candidate for GE14

PETALING JAYA: History has been made as DAP will field an Orang Asli candidate in this coming general election for the first time in 52 years.
The party has picked Nasir Dollah, 31, who will be the voice of the Temiar, as its candidate for the Galas state seat in Gua Musang, Kelantan.
Nasir, who is a member of the Indigenous Peoples Network of Malaysia (Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (Joas)) secretariat, had previously been the deputy chairman of the Indigenous Peoples Network of Kelantan, where he was active in the fight for the rights of the Orang Asli.
Nasir represents the Kelantan Orang Asli in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state leadership council.
He was among the 230 members of the Temiar clan to join DAP in late Feburary.
For this coming election, DAP will field 148 candidates for parliamentary and state seats.
The 148 candidates comprise 10 Malays, 22 Indians and 109 Chinese candidates have been nominated for the elections.
The party will have three Dayak representatives, three Kadazan-Dusun-Murut representatives and Nasir will represent the Orang Asli.
