KUALA LUMPUR: A female former lawyer was sentenced to two years in prison by the sessions court here today for criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM270,000 related to the sale and purchase of a house, three years ago.
Saidatul Karimah Nasron, 38, now a trader, who had initially claimed trial, was ordered by judge Datuk Zainal Abidin Kamarudin to serve her sentence from today.
Last March 26, she was charged with CBT involving the sale of a house owned by a construction company director Junainah Yusof, 60, in Hulu Klang.
She committed the offence at Jalan Wangsa Delima 11, D'Wangsa Link in Pusat Bandar Wangsa Maju here, on Oct 9, 2015.
Earlier in mitigation, counsel Khairul Aiman Yusoff Looi requested for Saidatul's sentence to run from the date of her arrest on March 24, telling the court that she was in the first month of pregnancy and had five school-going children to care for.
However, deputy public prosecutor S. Malini Anne urged the court to enforce the sentence from today. — Bernama
