Father-daughter duo eyeing two state seats in Penang (Updated)

BUTTERWORTH: The Penang Front Party (PFP) has chosen a father and daughter to contest two state seats in Penang.

Both Edward Joseph, 61, and Daphne Edward, 39, said they are excited to contest in the general elections.

Edward, who is contesting in the Bukit Tengah seat, said he has been in politics for the last 35 years.

"I have groomed my daughter and I believe that she will shine in politics," he said.

Daphne is contesting in Jawi.

"I am confident of winning the seat as my party's manifesto will speak for my victory," she added.

The PFP is contesting 13 state seats and one parliamentary seat in the 14th general election.

Its president Datuk Patrick Ooi Khar Giap told a press conference that he is contesting in the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat and Prai state seat.

He said 10 candidates are contesting on the mainland and three others are contesting on the island.
