New Peugeot 5008 released

NASIM Sdn Bhd, the official distributor and custodian for the Peugeot brand in Malaysia, yesterday launched the new Peugeot 5008 SUV, “a modern automobile that gives users the attractive combination of status, sophisticated technology, impressive practicality and driving emotions”.
The seven-seater SUV in the C-segment brings a blend of space and practicality of an MPV and the dynamic appeal of an SUV – meeting expectations of today’s customers.
The overall size of the SUV remains compact at 4,641mm long and 1,844mm wide, yet for a spacious C-segment vehicle, the new 5008 – though 11cm longer than its predecessor – is still one of the most conservatively proportioned and its extra length makes it roomier for passengers.
Its features include advanced full LED headlamps with sequential scrolling indicators, 18-inch alloy Los Angeles wheels with two-tone diamond finish, stainless steel roof, prominent black wheel arches, an eight-inch multifunction colour touchscreen, 12.3-inch high-resolution digital head-up cluster display that shows the speedometer, odometer, trip-computer, and others with superior graphics, elegant animations and eye-pleasing transitions from one mode to another; motorised smart hands-free tailgate that opens and closes shut effortlessly when activated – just with a simple gesture of placing your foot under the rear bumper, and central satin chrome toggle switches for quick access to the main passenger comfort and safety functions (audio, air-conditioning, assistance settings, telephone, apps, and hazard warning lights), among others.
“Passenger comfort gets an upgrade as the all-new 5008 is equipped with seven premium leather seats for everyone on-board and now offers five different angles of inclination on the second row, in contrast to its predecessor’s option of two. This row also features three-point Isofix anchor points and reconfiguration options at the passenger and loading compartments to optimise knee room.
“Epitomising the luxury of space in a versatile SUV, the all-new 5008 owns up to its name with its class-leading boot capacity and intelligent storage solutions. Its flat, uncluttered volume and low boot sill at 676mm, in combination with a foldable front passenger seat, provides from 1,060 litres of space in five-seat configuration or 2,042 litres with second row folded flat – allowing the SUV to carry especially long loads of up to 3.2 metres.”
Safety-wise, the SUV has a cutting-edge advanced driver assistance system comprising six airbags, an Advanced Electronic Stability Programme, a first-in-its-class Advanced Grip Control with five drive mode selection, Hill Assist Descent Control, Speed Limit Information, Driver Attention Alert and Lane Departure Warning. When travelling downhill on steep slopes, there’s the Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC), which takes the vehicle safely down steep gradients of at least five degrees, “leaving nothing to chance”. It innovates through its ability to maintain a very low descent speed of 3 km/h, preserving safety and control in the most potentially unnerving situations. Altogether, these neat features reinforce the all-new 5008 SUV’s five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Under the SUV's bonnet is a 1.6 Turbo THP engine that boasts a fuel efficiency of 7.3 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions as low as 133g/km. Other features include Android Auto, Apple Carplay and Mirrorlink connectivity, auto electric parking brake, automatic dual zone air-conditioning, reverse camera with three view settings, six speakers with 3D Arkamys sound staging system, driver seat lumbar and height adjustment and flexible eight-way electric driver seat with memory settings. The ergonomic high-seating position especially gives a feeling of safety and security by increasing the visibility of the open road.
Offered in four distinctive colours Emerald Crystal, Amazonite Grey, Nera Black and Pearlescent White, the new 5008 SUV is currently on display in showrooms nationwide. Each goes for RM173,888 (on the road, without insurance, with GST). The SUV comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, together with Nasim’s existing 24-hours Peugeot Assistance service and complimentary access to “SkyLounge by Naza” at Subang Skypark.
