GE14: Penang PAS announces candidates of strategic partners

KEPALA BATAS: Penang PAS has announced the names of candidates from its strategic political partners – Dewan Himpunan Penyokong PAS (DHPP) and Gagasan Sejahtera – to contest in the in the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.
Penang PAS commissioner Muhammad Fauzi Yusof said last night that J. Kumar of DHPP would contest the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat, Datuk M. Vikneswaran the Batu Uban state seat and A. Kumaravelu the Bukit Tambun state seat.
He also said that G. Asoghan of the People's Alternative Party (PAP) would contest the Perai state seat and Tan Beng Huat, the Jawi state seat.
Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM), he said, would field candidates against caretaker Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng of the DAP in the Bagan parliamentary and Air Putih state seats. PCM deputy president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan is to stand in Bagan, PCM party member R. Manikandan in Air Putih.
Muhammad Fauzi said Penang PAS would also contest the Machang Bubok state seat, its candidate being Penang PAS secretary 1 and a former member of the Seberang Perai Municipal Council, Jamil Abdul Rahman.
With this additional seat, Penang PAS would now be contesting 19 state and six parliamentary seats in the state in GE14, he said at the announcement of the candidates at the Penang PAS headquarters in Pongsu Seribu here. — Bernama
