LPI Capital shares up on higher Q1 earnings

PETALING JAYA: LPI Capital Bhd's share price rose 24 sen or 1.49% this morning, after announcing that its net profit rose 2.7% to RM72.5 million in the first quarter ended March 31 from RM70.6 million a year ago.
At 11.31am, the stock, which was among the top gainers, stood at RM16.38 with 10,400 shares changing hands. It has a market capitalisation of RM6.5 billion.
The group said the improved earnings was mainly attributed to higher profit from its general insurance segment.
Revenue for the quarter grew 9.6% to RM381 million, mainly driven by growth in gross earned premium from its general insurance segment.
