PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi's resignation as Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director-general will not affect the position and function of the government organisation.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said Jasa officers throughout the country would continue to carry out their responsibilities.
"I have met Jasa senior officials at the central and state level, and they have assured me that the resignation of Datuk Dr Puad does not affect the stand and function of Jasa as a government organisation," he said in a statement to Bernama.
He brushed aside claims by certain quarters that Jasa's function would be affected by the resignation.
Mohd Puad on Wednesday confirmed he had resigned as Jasa director-general, ending speculation that he would quit if he was not nominated as a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for a seat in Johor in the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.
Mohd Puad has served as Jasa director-general for three years.
Salleh said he was informed by Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad about the resignation letter from Mohd Puad, effective April 26, 2018.
"On behalf of myself and KKMM workforce, we thank and appreciate all his contributions and service during his tenure as director general of Jasa," he added. — Bernama
