KANOWIT: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) had to sack two of its senior members recently because they had tried to destroy it from within, according to its president Tan Sri Dr. James Masing.
He said the action was necessary to keep the party strong and united.
"This course of action should not influence our members, supporters and Dayak voters in particular to be upset and boycott all PRS candidates in the general election.
"We have to do what was necessary in order to save the party," he said at a gathering at the residence of Datuk Aaron Dagang, the party's candidate for the Kanowit parliamentary seat here today.
PRS in its supreme council special meeting on Sunday sacked its deputy president Datuk Joseph Entulu and former Lubok Antu member of parliament Datuk William Nyalau Badak and two others.
Entulu, the former Selangau member of parliament is also a former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
"The sacking was not initiated by our secretary-general Datuk Joseph Salang, Datuk Aaron Dagang or Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong and three others who are contesting in the election. It was the collective decision of our disciplinary committee," he said.
On GE14, Masing who is also caretaker deputy chief minister was confident PRS would deliver all its six seats to Barisan Nasional again. — Bernama
