Penang BN chairman faces four cornered fight

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Teng Chang Yeow will face a four-cornered contest for the Tanjong Bungah state seat in the 14th General Election on May 9.
Teng, 54, will face DAP candidate Zairil Khir Johari, 36, Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) candidate Chua Cheong Wee, 49, and Parti Bersama Malaysia's (PBM) Lee Zheng Yong, 36.
Teng, who is also Penang Gerakan chairman, arrived at the nomination centre at 8.45am with about 500 supporters.
At 1.10pm, the returning officer for the Bukit Bendera parliamentary constituency Zulkifli Long announced the names of candidates who will be contesting for Bukit Bendera, as well as the state seats under it namely Tanjong Bungah, Air Putih, Kebun Bungah and Pulau Tikus.
The Bukit Bendera parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight between BN candidate Andy Yong Kim Seng, 47, Wong Hon Wai, 45, (DAP), and Tan Gim Theam, 48, (PBM).
The Air Putih state seat will witness Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, 57, who is also DAP secretary-general take on BN's Tang Heap Seng, 61, R. Manikandan, 40, (Parti Cinta Malaysia) and Gim Theam; while the Kebun Bungah state seat will be contested by Jason Ong Khan Lee, 43 (PKR), Ooi Zhi Yi, 34, (BN) and Wu Kai Min, 62 (PBM); and the Pulau Tikus state seat between Loo Jieh Sheng, 36, (BN), Lee Chun Kit, 36, (DAP) and Wee Kean Wai, 30 (PBM). — Bernama
