Dr Sim offers five core thrusts for Stampin voters

KUCHING: The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Stampin parliamentary seat, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, has outlined five core thrusts in his manifesto for the 14th General Election (GE14), including the government's aspirations for the people.
Dr Sim, who is also Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) president, said the government had plans to improve the standard of living of residents in the constituency.
He said the manifesto included the BN aspirations and projects to be implemented in the three state seats, namely Kota Sentosa, Batu Kitang and Batu Kawah under the Stampin parliamentary seat.
"The five core thrusts are affordable homes and education; promoting economic activities; flood mitigation; community besides roads and traffic. All three state seats of Batu Kawah, Batu Kitang and Kota Sentosa are now rapidly growing and experiencing various issues such as housing and congestion.
"This manifesto is for government projects and aspirations for the voters in the constituency," he said.
Dr Sim, who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman, said this when launching the manifesto which was issued in Malay, English and Chinese languages, here today.
The Stampin seat will see a straight fight between Dr Sim and Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen.
Among the matters outlined in the manifesto are to provide 5,000 affordable housing units, support for needy kindergartens apart from stimulating the tourism sector and hawkers' centres to generate the economy as well as the construction of a new administrative complex.
The manifesto also pays attention to the implementation of the drainage and flood control master plan, construction of new public parks and roads and measures to reduce traffic congestion. — Bernama
