Helicopter mercy flight for ailing Orang Asli children

GUA MUSANG: The Fire and Rescue Department flew out six Orang Asli children afflicted with high fever from Pos Belatim for treatment at the Gua Musang Hospital here yesterday.
Its Air Unit public relations officer, Asst Supt Mohd Farhan Marzuki, said the Augusta AW139 helicopter from the Bertam airbase in Penang arrived at Pos Belatim in the Gua Musang interior at about 3.30pm and brought the four boys and two girls to the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station compound at 4.10pm.
The children, aged between three and seven months, were also accompanied by their parents and sent to the hospital in an ambulance, he said when contacted here today.
Mohd Farhan said the helicopter was piloted by Capt Leong Cheong Meng, who was assisted by co-pilot Deputy Supt Shahrizal Sahari.
The department had performed over 30 mercy flights to help ailing Orang Asli in the Gua Musang interior as requested by the Department of Orang Asli Development, he added. — Bernama
