PDRM all geared up for GE14: IGP

BAGAN DATUK: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has formulated a more effective and comprehensive strategy about the deployment of personnel on the polling day for the 14th General Election (GE14), according to Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
He said the level of preparedness among police personnel on GE14 duty until the polling day on May 9, were now at all-time high.
"Every police personnel has been reminded to always be civil and professional in discharging their duties to avoid any repercussion that could smear the credibility of the force and the image of the government.
"We also uphold the message of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who wants the GE14 to be the safest ever in the history of the country," he said at the launch of the NBOS: 1Amanweek 2018 Combating Crime and Drug programme at the Bagan Datuk Square, here today.
Also present were Ahmad Zahid, who is also caretaker Home Minister; and Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim.
Mohamad Fuzi also told voters not to worry about going out to vote because PDRM would ensure their safety and comfort during the process.
"Do not be easily fall for rumours or false news that can stir doubts or anger among the voters. Always adhere to the rules and laws.
"Do respect each other and refrain from doing things that can provoke and disturb public order, so that the electoral process will take place in a peaceful manner," he added.
The programme, held since 2015, saw Bagan Datuk as the first destination in Perak. It will take place in several states including Sarawak, Kelantan, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
