Teng appeals to Penang voters to give BN greater role in state assembly

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Teng Chang Yeow (pix) has appealed to voters to give BN candidates who contest in the 14th General Election a greater role to play in the State Legislative Assembly as the DAP-led state government had failed to address several issues.
He said since Lim Guan Eng became Penang Chief Minister, he could not accept criticism and would go after anyone who criticised him.
"Everyone must seem to following his methods, if you criticise him, he will either sue you in court or he will run you down," Teng, who is state Gerakan chairman told reporters after launching BN Batu Uban candidate Hng Chee Wey's manifesto here yesterday.
He said issues such as hill cutting, slope development and flood had happened in a big way for the past 10 years without any solution.
He added the reason he chose to contest in the Tanjong Bungah state seat was because it was where the most serious problem such as land slioe, hill cutting and flood issues happened.
Teng, 54 will face a four-cornered fight in the Tanjong Bungah state seat against DAP's Zairil Khir Johari,36, Party Rakyat Malaysia candidate Chua Cheong Wee, 49 and Malaysian United Party candidate, Lee Zheng Yong, 36. — Bernama
