Voters told to reject politics of violence and insults: Ahmad Zahid

BAGAN DATUK: The politics of violence and insults as shown by the opposition during the 14th general election (GE14) should be rejected by voters, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said the campaign of humiliating, defaming and cursing people showed how desperate the opposition was to fish for votes and should not be ignored as it could threaten the stability and peace of the country.
"This is a desperate tactic because I think they could smell the growing momentum of Barisan Nasional.
"The blue wave is due to the wow factor of BN manifesto announced by caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak as BN chairman," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after a feast to celebrate a National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) programme with the Communications and Multimedia Ministry for Bagan Datuk parliamentary constituency in Kampung Pasang Api here today.
Ahmad Zahid was commenting on an incident when the side mirror of a campaign vehicle of BN Bandar Kuching candidate Kho Teck Wan was smashed in Tabuan Jaya, Sarawak last Saturday while a banner of BN Bakri candidate, Koh Chon Chai was damaged by irresponsible people.
On the use of curse words by Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming during his campaign in Teluk Intan, Ahmad Zahid said this was the tactic of a desperado in GE14.
"Everybody knows of his method in Taiping and nowhere (Teluk Intan). I think the people of Teluk Intan are aware of the performance of Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong as he is also a local boy," he said.
On GE14, Mah who is Gerakan president is facing a three cornered-fight involving Nga under the PKR logo and Ahmad Ramadzan Ahmad Daud of PAS.
In this regard, Ahmad Zahid also said he was satisfied with the
proceeding of GE14 campaign report throughout the country even though there were some untoward incidents. — Bernama
