GEORGE TOWN: Lim Swee Bok, better known as Ah Bok, will not allow the results of the previous general election result for Pengkalan Kota to affect his morale.
In GE13, Loke Poh Chye of Barisan Nasional (BN) lost his deposit against DAP's incumbent Lau Keng Ee.
Lim, who lost his family in a fire last November, is contesting for the first time in the seat.
"I am not perturbed at all with the previous election results and I remain optimistic," he said.
He said this time will be a totally different ball game as he pointed out he is a local residing in Pengkalan Kota since young and understood better the local issues facing the area.
"Local issues here like traffic, cleanliness and density problem need to be addressed.
Pengkalan Kota under the Tanjong parliamentary seat is also one of seats which will see a five-cornered fight in the 14th general election (GE14).
Lim will be up against Gooi Zi Sen (PKR), Koay Teng Lye from Malaysian United Party, Chew Seng Tung from Parti Rakyat Malaysia and independent candidate Rangindran Sivasamy.
