Kit Siang wants rival supporters to 'Set Malaysia Free'

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang today urged supporters of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and PAS to vote Pakatan Harapan in order to uphold democracy in the country.
He said the coming General Election (GE14) was the best chance for voters to change the government and its policies.
"It is a golden opportunity for the rakyat. It will take another generation to become a 'normal' democracy. If Pakatan wins, we will take the first step of normal democracy where people can change their government through the ballot box without any threat.
"I want to call the 3.6 million Umno members, one million MCA members, and one million PAS members, to do their patriotic duty to save Malaysia," the Gelang Patah incumbent said at a ceramah at Flat Alam Jaya in Cheras today.
Lim also pointed out that given the age of former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and he himself, GE14 could be the last battleground for them.
"I am 77-years-old and GE14 is going to be my 12th and possibly last general election battle.
"Mahathir is now 93-years-old and nobody expects him to lead any movement for political change in the 15th general election due in 2023," he added.
As for Anwar, Lim said the PKR de facto leader, who is slated to be released from prison on June 8, would turn 71 in less than four months.
"And if Harapan fails on May 9 to form the government, which means Anwar will not be the eighth prime minister as decided by the Harapan presidential council, it is difficult to imagine him at the forefront of a national campaign for political change in the 15th general election," he added.
According to Lim, next week's national polls would be a "now or never" and "do or die" battle.
Lim also unveiled his 31-page pamphlet titled "GE14 - Set Malaysia Free" which explains the four-party PH pact's policies and reforms if it wins federal power.
