Tun Daim slams BN for campaign tactics ridiculing Tun Mahathir

ALOR STAR: Former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin slammed Barisan Nasional (BN) campaign tactics targeting and ridiculing former premier Tun Mahathir Mohamad in Kedah.
Daim said the tactic is stupid and tarnishes the statesman's dignity.
"It was stupid, if they dare to confront that old man, please do it in front of his face, not behind like this," he told reporters after a meeting session with Pendang folks at Pendang PPBM division headquarters.
The former Merbok MP was commenting on a comic book ridiculing Mahathir which has been making its rounds in Alor Star and also Langkawi where the former premier is Pakatan Harapan's (PH) candidate for the parliamentary seat.
The 19-page comic titled Mayday! Mayday! Madey! Madey! features caricatures of Mahathir and other PH leaders such as DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohammad Azmin Ali and also Kedah PPBM chairman Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
Its also features caricatures of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as well as DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
He added ridiculing others should not be used in political campaigns especially an elder like Mahathir and challenged the detractors to confront the former premier face to face.
"If they dare enough, have a debate with him (Tun Mahathir), not resorting to such attacks like this," he said.
Earlier, Daim visited the PPBM operations centre at Pendang and endorsed all three candidates Wan Saiful Wan Jan (Pendang), Razak Khamis (Sungai Tiang) and Firdaus Jaafar (Tokai).
